Responsible Gambling
Keeping play fun
We want everyone to enjoy their time with us and to gamble responsibly. Gambling is entertainment and should stay fun. We know that for some people it can harm their lives and the lives of those close to them. Check in with yourself regularly: are you playing at a pace that feels comfortable?
If gambling starts to feel like too much, our safer gambling team is here for you at [email protected].
Signs of a problem
Ask yourself honestly:
- Do you miss work or study to gamble?
- When the money runs out, do you feel lost and want to play again straight away?
- Do you keep going until nothing is left, even money you need for essentials?
- Have you lied or taken money to gamble or to cover gambling debts?
- Is money set aside for gambling off-limits for anything else?
- Have family and friends stopped interesting you?
- Does gambling make you feel low or hopeless?
If you answered yes to some of these, you may have a gambling problem, and these organisations can help:
- GamCare (gamcare.org.uk), whose helpline for the UK is 0808 8020 133
- Samaritans, helpline 116 123
- Beacon Counselling Trust (beaconcounsellingtrust.co.uk)
Financial limits
You can set, review or lower a financial limit whenever you like. We offer two kinds. A deposit limit, for players in Great Britain, caps your total deposits in a period, and withdrawals do not free up any allowance. A net deposit limit counts your deposits minus eligible withdrawals in the period, so a withdrawal can give back some allowance. For example, with a £100 net limit, depositing £80 and withdrawing £30 leaves you £50 more to deposit in that period.
Limits can be daily (00:00 to 23:59 GMT), weekly (Monday 00:00 to Sunday 23:59 GMT) or monthly (first to last day of the calendar month). Each one resets at the start of the next period, and unused allowance does not roll over. Lowering a limit works straight away. To raise or remove one, you wait 24 hours to cool off, then log in again and confirm, or your current limit stays. The strictest limit always applies, and limits cover all current and future accounts we identify as yours on participating Jumpman Gaming websites.
Take a Break and self-exclusion
If you feel your gambling is out of control, you can exclude yourself using the online tools or by emailing support with how long you want the account blocked. Self-exclusion lasts at least 6 months. When it ends, your account stays closed until you ask us to reopen it.
You can also ask our support team for a break lasting 24, 48 or 72 hours, one, two or three weeks, a month, or any length up to 6 weeks. Once the break is over, your account is ready to play again automatically.
GAMSTOP
If you are thinking about self-exclusion, you may also want to join GAMSTOP, a free service that lets you exclude yourself from every online gambling company licensed in Great Britain. You can sign up at gamstop.co.uk.
Reality Check
Reality Check reminds you how long your session has lasted. The timer starts with your first wager, and the reminder appears on screen at the interval you choose. When it shows, you can keep playing, look at your transaction history or log out.
Protecting your account and children
Keep your username and password private, log out when you finish and change your password at once if you think someone else knows it. Noting your balance when you log out is a simple extra check. To stop children reaching gambling sites, parents can use filtering software such as Net Nanny or the blocking tools listed by GamCare.
Common gambling myths
Every spin or bet is independent, so a near miss does not mean a win is due. Sticking to a budget helps, but gambling can still cause harm if it takes up too much of your time or your thoughts. Playing more games at once does not improve your odds. It only increases how much you can lose.
